What can I expect in the first session?

A calm, confidential conversation about what’s bringing you here and what you’d like support with. We’ll talk about your goals, what feels comfortable for you, and discuss possible next steps. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to.

How long is a session?

Individual counselling sessions are 60 minutes.
Couples counselling sessions are 90 minutes.
Extended or family sessions can be discussed if needed.

Do you offer in-person and online sessions?

Yes. Sessions are available in person in Maitland, NSW, and online via secure telehealth. Your preference can be discussed when you get in touch.

What issues do you help with?

Support is available for a wide range of concerns, including:

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person. Some people find benefit in a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support. We’ll review progress together and adjust the approach based on your needs and goals.

What is your approach to counselling?

My approach is warm, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed. As a Psychotherapsit, I draw on a range of contemporary, evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),  Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) ,Adlerian Therapy (AT), Polyvagal-informed interventions (PV), Somatic and body-based approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Existential Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy  (PCT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Psychodynamic Counselling, Neurodiversity-affirming practice,  attachment-informed, emotion-focused, mindfulness, somatic, and strength-based approaches amongt many more. Therapy is integrative and client-centred, allowing support to be tailored to each individual’s needs, goals, and lived experience.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is a priority. Confidentiality is maintained in line with professional and legal requirements. The only exceptions involve legal or safety obligations, such as a serious risk of harm or child safety concerns. This will be explained clearly in your first session.

This service is not for emergencies.

What are your fees and payment options?

Session fees and payment options are discussed after initial contact, once we’ve confirmed suitability and appointment details. Payment is arranged securely prior to or at the time of booking.
Medicare (Mental Health Care Plans), Victim Service, NDIS, EAPS, Veterans and Workers’ Compensation options can be discussed if applicable.

Do you offer concessions or rebates?

If fees are a concern, please feel free to get in touch. We can discuss options where possible, including Medicare rebates if you have a Mental Health Care Plan.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations or rescheduling with at least 24 hours’ notice incur no fee.
Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged to hold the time reserved for you.

Can parents or guardians attend sessions with teens?

Yes, depending on the young person’s comfort and goals. We’ll work together to balance privacy with appropriate parental or guardian involvement.

Where are you located, and is parking available?

Sessions are held in Maitland, NSW.
Street parking is available nearby, including Lawes Street. Accessibility needs can be discussed in advance.

How do I prepare for my first session?

There’s no special preparation required. You may find it helpful to think about what you’d like support with and what would help you feel comfortable. You’re welcome to bring notes if that feels useful.
